Here is an interesting paper that expands on Deleuze's idea of the virtual and the actual. Deleuze stated that reality in itself is both the virtual possibilities and their actual manifestations. The human experience of reality is only of the actual, and it can be theorized that the human unconscious is only the virtual. The human interaction with reality, that involves this unconscious and experience, divides and reunites the virtual and actual that exist independently of human existence.
